2018 NAIDOC Public speaking competition winners

Congratulations to Madison Alcorn and Chloe Ligakis, proud winners of the 2018, NAIDOC Public Speaking Competition.

Part of NAIDOC Week celebrations, the event was held on Wednesday 4th of July at the Riverina Environment Education Centre. The annual Public Speaking Competition involved schools from around the Wagga District. Student’s

presented their speeches in pairs, inspired by the 2018 NAIDOC theme; ‘Because of Her, We Can’. The event was an opportunity to acknowledge and share the stories of some amazing Indigenous Australian Women, who have touched and inspired others.

The competition was tough and there were some really great speeches presented. Chloe and Madi developed a well-crafted speech and spoke from the heart. Weaving personal stories of their own families with those of outstanding Indigenous Australian women who have inspired them to do great things. Congratulations girls on a well deserved win!
