Kooringal Public School has two bands for students to be involved with. The Junior band is for students who have never played a musical instrument. The instruments the students can learn are:
flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, french horn, tenor horn and percussion.
These instruments can be hired form the 'Friends of the Band' committee at school.They have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument and have music lessons at school. Students are required to be in Year 3 or above to be involved in the band.
The concert band is the other band and the students in this band are required to have been learning their instrument for at least 12 months and be competent musicians.
Recently the concert band competed in the NSW Band Festival in Sydney where they received a Silver Award. They also received the Band Development Grant, which will involve tutors coming from Sydney to work with our band members.
