2014 Basketball

It was a slow start to the 2014 basketball season for KPS, as two of our opponets forfiet their games at the last minute. This meant the season didn't start until August for us, our teams had very limited court time going into their first game against Deneliquin. Despite this set back (and in true KPS spirit) both teams played brilliantly and secured strong wins for their first game at Jerilderee. This put us straight through to the finals against two tough Tumut teams, both of which have entensive PSSA experience. The finals were both tough games. Kooringal boys had an inpeneritable defence and strong counter offence, and they led Franklin for the entire game. During the last two minutes Franklin was awarded a free throw, which saw the boys go down by just one point. That point was the difference between being Riverina champions and runners up. The Kooringal girls played a strong offence during their game and managed to keep Tumut representative players busy on defence. Both 2014 teams came within one game of representing Riverina at the PSSA State Basketball competition in Bathurst and should be congratulated on their efforts.
